Dance of Love

Adam danced into Fiona’s life during Freshers week at university. The pair both studied at Southampton University and it was during their very first week there that Adam caught Fiona’s eye.

“Fiona was attracted to my amazing dance moves,” laughs Adam. “From that very first week, we spent a lot of time together and soon fell in love.”

Fast-forward to March 2022 when Adam popped the all important question.

“We were on holiday for Adam’s birthday and it was on his actual birthday that Adam proposed,” Fiona recalls. “It was the only day in the trip without rain and Adam asked me to marry him on a beach just outside of Lisbon. I was really surprised, but it did explain why Adam had made airport check-in a competitive race! We celebrated in the evening with wine and tapas.”

On their return to the UK, the couple started planning a wedding in Somerset.

Wedding Wardrobe

Fiona made her bridal entrance in an elegant gown from Rosa Clara. The dress featured a thigh split, decorative button detailing and an elegant lace bodice.

“I loved the neckline and lace details paired with a simple, fluid skirt.” Fiona smiles. “I accessorised with a cathedral-length veil with a lace trim and a pair of simple ivory block heels.”

In addition to her veil, Fiona accessorised her look with dainty pearl earrings and her late great-grandmother’s ring, as her something borrowed and blue.

Adam and his groomsmen stepped out in checked navy suits with matching waistcoats. They completed their look with teal green ties and pocket squares.

The bridesmaids also wore teal green. Their full-length dresses featured ruffled sleeves and a flattering v-neckline. The bridesmaids wore initialled necklaces gifted by Fiona on the wedding morning.

Planning a wedding in Somerset

The couple were living in South East London when they first started searching for their dream wedding venue. They both wanted to get married in a rustic barn wedding venue with plenty of outside space.

“Fiona wanted to get married closer to her childhood home in Somerset, so we set about finding a venue,” Adam explains. “Priston Mill is very picturesque and we were sold as soon as we saw the beautiful Tythe Barn and the surrounding grounds.”

Planning a wedding in Somerset, the couple entrusted suppliers local to the venue to make their wedding dreams a reality.

Meant to bee

The couple had a white and green colour scheme with a bee theme. The florist decorated the venue with white blooms, green foliage and fresh herbs. Gold lanterns and candles added a glimmer to the natural styling.

On arrival, guests were greeted with a welcome sign and a table displaying photographs of the couple’s parents and grandparents on their own wedding days, next to a frame reading ‘Meant to Bee’.

“We chose to use wildflower seed packets to ‘save the bees’ as our favours, to tie in the bee theme,” explains the couple. “The bee theme continued with our table names. We used the names of different bees. The top table was called the hive. The table plan featured hexagon shapes, to represent honeycomb.”

Fiona and her mum spent a weekend drying out gypsophila and making the place name cards which featured a gold, bee’s wax seal.

Memorable Moments

“Planning a wedding in Somerset, near where I grew up was so nostalgic. On the day, I was so excited to marry Adam and celebrate with our nearest and dearest,” reflects Fiona.

One of the couple’s favourite moments included dancing to the band with their guests, where Adam’s famous dance moves made another appearance!

“Seeing Fiona at the end of the aisle is a moment I will never forget,” smiles Adam. “All I could see was my bride, she personified beauty. I just knew we had an amazing future to look forward to.”
